Monday, May 7
(note new date to accomodate more people!)
6:30 PM
We are excitedly preparing! All students and adults of the St. Peter's Family are welcome to the St. Peter's Stage ~ We auditioned Friday, 4/13, and will audition this Friday, 4/20, between 1 and 3 PM. Bring your talent to Mrs. Maounis's room. Performers are free and sit in the audience for the show. The masters of ceremonies call them up when it's time.
Admission: $5 at the door
Free popcorn and lemonade for all!
5th Grade Parents: We do need two volunteers to assist the students with selling seats. We'll help the 5th graders with making lemonade and bagging popcorn in the afternoon ~ They'll be in charge of keeping it stocked on the counter. We're aiming for keeping it simple and fun. We hope all 5th can make it! Let us know if your child can't be there. All hands on deck for gOt tAlEnT? sHaRe iT!
Kanuga ~ MTOS (Mountain Trail Outdoor School)
UPDATE
Forms will go home in this Friday's folders. Our trip is coming together. WE WILL DEPART ON TUESDAY, MAY 22, at 7 AM. Be at school by 6:45 AM. We hope you can join us for rafting the French Broad River on Friday, May 25. The French Broad is a free flowing river, and because we've had enough rain this year, we get to do a full day rafting trip, including lunch on the river, for $60 per person. 5th graders' rafting charges are covered from their fundraising. See all info on Friday, and contact us with any questions.
Visit www.kanuga.org and go to the Mountain Trail Outdoor School link. You can also visit www.noc.org to find out about rafting the French Broad from the NOC Marshall, NC site.
We just found out that we are staying in the Harold House at Kanuga. We used to stay there before they built the cabins for MTOS. The cabins are full, so we get the Harold House! (We've attended MTOS longer than any other school, and it's our 20th anniversary.) This is a beautiful mountain home that will accomodate all of us under one roof. It is rarely used for students now, usually adult retreats. We are so fortunate ~ it is surrounded by playing fields, obstacle course, horizontal climbing wall, pond, and trails that wind around Kanuga Lake. A quick path takes us to basketball, volleyball, and tetherball courts. The dining hall is right off those courts. Check out the map of Kanuga, and you can see it all. Our "classrooms" will be on the trails you see on the map. This is a school without desks; we all learn something new every year!

Fifth graders come to my class for math and history or science. They need one 1" binder with 5 dividers. Dividers should be labeled: Notes, Homework, Powerups, Tests, and History (the 1st 4 dividers are all for math). All homework and tests for math will be passed back in class and kept in the binder for later reference. For science, students will need a spiral notebook for note taking.
Year at a glance:
Daily schedule
5th graders go to Mrs. Lockrow for Language Arts and Art, Mr. Tyson for Computer and Music, Ms. Parsons for Library, Miss Blaes for PE, and Ms. Hernandez for Spanish. For information about how the 5th graders raise money for our end of the year trip to Kanuga, see Mrs. Lockrow's page.
