Our Mission

OUR MISSION STATEMENTEntwined by common purpose, the students, teachers, parents, and friends of St. Peter's Episcopal School create an educational environment that nurtures in children a love of learning, joy of service and a lively faith. |

OUR VISION STATEMENT |
St. Peter's Episcopal School is a premier independent elementary school and a leader in implementing innovative educational programs that are responsive to the unique intelligence of the individual student. The foundation of the St. Peter's educational experience centers on Spanish language and cultural development, the Core Knowledge curriculum, the Trailwise nature program, a focus on community service, the STORM initiative, and the values of the Episcopal Church. St. Peter's celebrates all our children, as they become their own unique persons by discovering and using their gifts.
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING
As an Episcopal school and member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES), we are guided by the principles and practices of the Episcopal Church. This identity shapes our commitment to fostering academic excellence within a spiritually grounded, inclusive, and justice-minded community, consisting of people of all faiths.
We believe that the earliest years of education are foundational for forming curious, compassionate, and courageous thinkers. As such, our approach to academic inquiry reflects the Episcopal values we uphold:
-
School Worship that is creative, inclusive, and reflective of the liturgical traditions of the Episcopal Church.
-
Community Life that is respectful of all spiritual expressions and attentive to the intellectual, physical, and emotional development of each child.
-
Religious Formation and Study that is both age-appropriate and meaningful, honoring Episcopal tradition while engaging in dialogue with diverse faith perspectives.
-
Social Justice that centers equity, compassion, and respect, and calls students to serve others and celebrate the dignity of every human being.
Academic Exploration and Responsibility
Within this context, we encourage an approach to learning that values freedom of inquiry, diverse viewpoints, and critical thinking:
For Educators:
St. Peter’s teachers are trusted as professionals and formational leaders. They:

Present content with integrity and sensitivity, aligned with the school’s mission and Episcopal values.
-

-
Guide students in exploring age-appropriate ideas and perspectives that promote empathy, understanding, and open-mindedness.
-
Create respectful classroom spaces where all voices are heard and where questions—both academic and spiritual—are welcomed.
-
Communicate with families and school leadership when navigating complex or sensitive topics.
For Students:
Students are encouraged to:
-
Ask questions, think deeply, and reflect on their learning.
-
Respect differing viewpoints and engage in thoughtful dialogue.
-
See learning as a way to grow both intellectually and spiritually.
